Question by Shadow: Is it true that a small heater will consume more electricity than the house heater.?
I usually keep a small heater for my room at night instead of having the whole heater to warm up the house, when I told this to a friend I was suprise that he said that I was doing a big mistake because the small heater will consume a lot more energy than the electric heater in my house. Does that makes any sense?

Yes it does. Because the house heater uses gas. So your gas bill would go up a bit but not as much as your electric bill if you keep using the portable one.

  1. John himself

If your house has electric heat your friend is wrong. If your house has gas or oil heat, the electric heater will be much more expensive. But a large electric heater will cost more to run than a small electric heater.

Sure does. Look at plate on each one to compare.

No ! If 1kilowatt =15 cents, it doesn’t matter small heater or large heater,Its just that a large heater will warm more quickly.
