The only difference that I know of, is that the one for your mobile home might be smaller.Though, I recall the one in my buddy’s as being the same size as the one in my house. Check with any major appliance store, or mobile home dealership.

I am constantly amazed at the people who give advice based upon what they “guess” the answer is. YES, there is a difference. Manufactured home water heaters use a different air intake system which is vented through the floor (Gas burners). You can use a regular everyday water heater, but you are breaking building and safety codes. They are NOT smaller than conventional water heaters and are offered in 30 – 40 – and 50 gallon options now. They are offered in both gas and electric and the gas units are easily converted to propane by changing the orifices to the propane. The orifices are usually in a cloth bag attached to the flex gas line on the regulator if you order it with them. Just be sure your replacement will fit into the compartment. You did not mention how old your mobile home was so it is possible a 40 gallon unit would not fit in a 70′s or older mobile home.

Hi, the size of the water heater is smaller (more compact) and has fittings for propane instead of natural gas.Byee

There is no difference. But some mobile homes use propane gas. If this is the case then there is a difference. Regular home appliances do not operate on propane.
