Q & A: What should I use as a final coat on construction foam armor?

Question by Soji-chan: What should I use as a final coat on construction foam armor?
I’m carving and sanding construction foam to make costume armor for cosplay purposes. What I want to know is, what spray on finish should I use to give it durability and a metallic-like finish? What are the differences between polyurethane, resin, and lacquer? What’s cheapest? What’s the most durable?

the spray lacquer would have nice finish, but durable, would be resin glue, polyurethane is like lacquer as a clear varnish, durable if thicker, but then makes item heavier, if you had fiberglass, you could use construction foam as template form, place place wrap over form, and apply layer of fiberglass with resin, remove and seal, and add paint spray,

Try silver epoxy paint, you can get it at most hardware and craft stores. It is very durable and will not break down the foam like some other products.
