Q & A: Round abouts estimate for furnace repair?

Question by Mark S: Round abouts estimate for furnace repair?
How much will it cost for my furnace to be repaired? I am thinking that the blower motor died or perhaps maybe a broken belt (?) I realize that you and I don’t have all of the required information, but I am looking for a round about estimate. Will it be $ 100, $ 500, $ 1000?… basically an order of magnitude answer.

You could fix it yourself for $ 100. A repair call to fix it $ 300. For a step by step troubleshooting guide, check out the furnace page at www.hvac-for-beginners.com

this would depend on the type motor you have and if their is anything else wrong….belt drive motor…new motor and belt plus service call and one hour labor….depending on where you live 200 to 350 dollars….if it is belt drive and the beraings and shaft have to be replaced add another 50 to 100 dollars….direct drive motor plus service call and one hour labor, depending on horsepower of motor 200 to 300 dollars…if you replace the parts yourself for either one…about 100 to 150 dollars
