Q & A: On an average how much does it cost to have blown in insulation added to my existing exterior walls?

Question by bucky: On an average how much does it cost to have blown in insulation added to my existing exterior walls?
I have a concrete block house 864 Square feet. The house consists of Attic, main floor, and basement.
The house has stucco on it which was covered with foam board insulation and then Vinyl Siding. There is no insulation inside the wall cavity (between studs) nor is there any in between the blocks. There is what people called a “breathing space” with furring strips between the back on the sheetrock and the concrete block, this space runs from the attic down to the basement. I was told that this space needed to stay open to keep walls from sweating and too allow for breathing.
I have natural gas heat, new windows, I sealed up everything I could. Still the walls put off that annoying cold air. My basement interior walls and basement ceiling are not insulated. The attic floor is. A contractor can easily blow insulation into the “breathing space” between the sheetrock and block from the attic. I just wanted some average costs for a job like that.

it would depend on the amount of insulation used. blown in insulation has a tendency to settle, so it will compress to a degree towards the bottom. you may have to do this twice
