Q & A: is there anything i can do to stop leaking radiator on home system.?


Question by scary date: is there anything i can do to stop leaking radiator on home system.?
i have hot water heat system with old radiator that has a leak above the valve, there must be tiny crack on the radiator. i want to stop drip without draining system if possible. anything i can put on it temp/ that woukd work. i tried j-b weld epoxy mix but the area is just wet enough that it wont hold. its not a fast drip. just seeping out thru crack.

Try again but see if you can get down to the bare metal. Turn off the system if you can. Use a hair dryer or torch to dry up the water.

    I would try “quicksteel” you can find it in auto parts stores. It can be used “under water” I have used it on my radiator and it holds up to the temps good as well. It is a two part putty like jbweld but you just kned it together and stick it on it hardens in seconds. Good luck…
