Question by J F: How to insulate between brick exterior and plaster lathe walls?
Fortunately, I live in an inside row home so only a few of the walls are actually exterior walls. There is no insulation in those walls and really no linear space between the interior and exterior wall. How does one go about insulating a wall like that…is it even possible?

In my house, I have two layers of foil backed 1/2 inch insulating closed cell foam nailed right onto the studs from the inside, and that followed by 5/8 drywall. The 5/8 drywall is only for stability, not insulating value.
What this does is reflect the high energy waves and bounces them back into the room. Also on the sunny side, I have found that this keeps the walls and house cooler in the summer time by rejecting high energy waves that might enter the house.
I am not certain that you can add foil backed foam to the inside of your row house. You would need to check local codes to see if this is OK in your area. I can attest to the fact that it does quite well on insulating and retaining heat during the winter and repelling heat in the summer time.
What is important in your situtiation is doors and windows. The wall itself probably has the least amount of heat loss when compared to even a single window. You might want to consider Low-e window panes and a better insulated entry system and a 90% gas furnace(if you use gas) as money better spent than trying to insulate a vertical wall where heat losses in the first place are less than anywhere else in the structure.
